BOLIVAR, MO. …SBU scored the first eleven points and jumped out to an amazing 33-2 lead in the first 13 minutes of the game as the Lady Cats never looked back defeating the Lady Ambassadors of Ozark Christian 95-37.
Sophomore Casey Beavers led all scorers with a career high 20 points and led the game with another career high 16 rebounds. Beavers shot 10-11 from the field and even blocked two shots.
SBU dominated the glass all night outrebounding OCC 59-26 and held Ozark Christian to 13 percent shooting from the field in the first half, 27 percent for the game. Three Lady Cats served up double-doubles including seniors Jennifer Clymore with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Gwyn Smith with 18 points and 14 rebounds. This was the most amount of points scored for SBU since the Lady Cats put up triple figures against Ozark Christian last season in a 100-40 win.
With the victory, Southwest Baptist remained perfect on the season at the new Meyer Sports Center and improved to 5-2 on the year. SBU next heads west, four time zones back, and 3,959 miles to Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Hoop n' Surf Classic on Sunday, December 19 to take on St. Thomas Aquinas (NY) at 11:00 pm (CST) and play Wayne State College (NE) on Monday, December 20 at 9:00 pm (CST)
