VOLLEYBALL SIGNS ONE

For Immediate Release 30 April 2003

Southwest Baptist Head Volleyball Coach Leslie Howe has announced the signing of Breanna Rowland, a 6-2 middle hitter/rightside blocker from Streator, Ill., as her first signee since taking over the helm last month.

Rowland was a class 2A Honorable Mention selection and first team all-conference selection last fall. As a junior, Rowland was an all-conference honorable mention pick.

“I think she will come and contribute right away,” Howe said. “She adds size to the team, and due to her size, she will be a good blocker for us.”

While playing under at Streator, Ill.’s Township High School, Rowland led the team in blocking and was among the team leaders in kills, aces, and reception percentage.

The new Bearcat was the only player on her high school team to play club volleyball. She was an active member for the Illini Elite Volleyball Club based in Bloomington, Ill.

“She will contribute on the right side and middle for us,” Lowe said. “She will be an immediate impact to our team.”
Misti Baser, a 5-3 libro from Owensville, has verbally committed to walkon to the SBU program in 2003.
