JOPLIN, MO. ... Tyring to avenge their loss earlier this season to Missouri Southern, the Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats fell short of that goal in five games, 3-2.
The Lady Bearcats took the first game 30-28 but then dropped the next two, 30-28 and 30-23. Now down 2-1 after three games SBU fought back to win game four 30-28. In a drawn out game five, SBU fell to the Lady Lions, 15-11.
It was a great game for kills as SBU had three players with 10 or more kills. Jenny Madrid led the way with 13 kills followed by Ashlee Denbow with 11 kills and Jennifer Bassett with 10 kills. Splitting the assists were Chelsea Kenney and Candace Zane. Kenney had 27 assists while Zane added 23.
Misti Baser matched her career high of 29 digs. She had 29 digs earlier this season against Evangel University. Tasha Shores also had 10 digs.
SBU will host Pittsburg State on Friday, October 15, at 7 p.m. in the Meyer Wellness Gym.
