SANDERSON EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS, PLACES 4TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON, MA. ... Becoming the first Southwest Baptist University track all-American since 1995, junior T.Jay Sanderson (Chamberlin, South Dakota) finished fourth in the mile run at the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. This is the third time Sanderson has qualified for a national meet in three years.
Sanderson finished fourth out of 10 runners with a time of 4:08.18 and was just four seconds behind the national champion (Oliver Bodor - Western State). He was just one second ahead of fifth place Kelly Christensen of Western State.
The last SBU all-American was Dwayne Miner in 1995 when he finished fifth in the indoor mile. Sanderson is the second track all-American for SBU. He competed in the 2003 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships as an individual and then qualified for the NCAA Division II Track Outdoor National Championships in 2004.
Earlier this season, Sanderson was the MIAA Champion for the mile and helped pace the SBU Distance Medley Relay to a MIAA Championship.
