Student Assistant - Tara Coates

Tara Coates is a 2003 graduate of Rialto High, CA where she played softball for three years. She then was recruited to play at San Bernardino Valley College. While at SBVC she was named all conference during her freshman and sophomore seasons. After two years she transferred to Valley City State University where she was a member of the 2006 Region 3 championship team that earned a birth to the National Tournament. She then transferred to Southwest Baptist University for her senior season. Tara is pursuing her degree in Physical Education.

Coates made the transition to SBU from Valley City State University with Lady Bearcat Head Coach, Christy Capner.

Capner says: "Tara knows my program and knows what I expect from my athletes. Our philosophies are quite similar. Her extensive knowledge in the outfield will help develop our young but very talented crew. As a player she was always regarded as a strong leader by her teammates, and was very respected on the field. I think Tara's uplifting and motivating personality will make an immediate impact as a student-assistant."
