Softball Coaching Staff

Graduate Assistant - Taron Brewer

Taron Brewer joined the SBU Softball Lady Bearcat Staff in July 2007. She is from Trenton (MO) High School, where she was a three-year letter-winner, and an All-District selection in 2003. Also that year, Brewer was team captain and team MVP.

Brewer was a two-year starter at 2nd base at North Central Missouri College in 2004 and 2005. She led her team to a Regional Championship in 2004, and was an All-Region selection in 2005. That year, Brewer had a .338 batting average and drove in 24 runs. While at NCMC, she was a two-year member of the national Dean's List and the NCMC Dean's List. She was selected for the President's list in 2005. Brewer was named to the Academic all-American list in 2003-04 and 2004-05.

In 2006, Brewer missed only three games for UMKC in the 2006 season, starting 50-of-52 on the year. She finished with a .206 batting average, scoring 14 runs and earning 12 RBI on the season, with two home runs. Brewer's fielding percentage of .980 was good for fourth on the team, as she led the team in putouts with 315. She was named to the Mid-Con Spring Academic All-Conference Team.

In 2007, at UMKC, Brewer was named Co-Captain for the year. She started 49 of 50 games, had 131 at bats, 6 2B, 8 RBI, 9 BB, 243 PO.. FLD%.978. Brewer was named to the Mid-Con Winter/Spring Academic all-Conference team and to the Mid-Continent Conference Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.

Head Coach Christy Capner says: "I am very excited to have Taron as part of our coaching staff here at SBU. She is a Missouri native who brings the Division I experience as a catcher and corner infielder. Taron is determined to remain in Coaching as a career, so I expect that she will make a big impact on the success of our program."
