Head Coach Dana Bradshaw enters her third season at the helm of the Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats softball program. This past fall, her team was awarded as one of the top 10 academic softball teams in the nation with a 3.36 gpa by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

She enters the 2004 season looking to improve on the 4-28 record and brings a plethora of talent in with the incoming freshman class.

In her first season (2002), SBU finished the season with 14 wins, six of which were Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association competition. They also enjoyed a victory over the defending NAIA National Champions Oklahoma City, 1-0, in the third game of the season. Their achievements on the field were recognized as Janis McKay was voted First-Team All-MIAA and Jill Gregory, Jessica Perkins, and Teri McKay were voted Honorable Mention All-MIAA.

The team also boasted six National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes, two Academic All-MIAA student-athletes, and one MIAA Presidential Scholar.

They tied for the 14th highest grade point average among all Division II softball programs in the nation.

Bradshaw, a native of Ruleville, Mississippi served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, for three years before coming to SBU. She also enjoyed a three-year college softball career herself, playing two seasons at Mississippi Delta Community College in Moorhead, Mississippi and one season at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, where she was honored with the 1997-1998 Lady Statesman Award.

She earned varsity letters in five sports while in high school and was voted the basketball and softball teams' Most Valuable Player her senior season. She was also named the Ralph D. Conger Scholar-Athlete of the Year, which is awarded to the best all-around athlete with the highest grade point average.

Bradshaw holds an Associate in Arts Degree, a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, and is a 1995 graduate of North Sunflower Academy in Drew, Mississippi.
