Game 2
PSU 4, SBU 1
SBU picked up their first MIAA win in almost two years as they won game two, 2-1. SBU had not won a MIAA game since defeating Emporia State, 5-1, on April 11, 2003.
Phillips tripled to left center as the second batter of the game in the first inning. Martin then brought home Phillips when she grounded out to the second baseman. In the fourth inning, Emilee Bounds singled home Martin to make it 2-0.
UMR made things exciting as they added one run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the SBU lead to one, 2-1. With the bases loaded and two outs, SBU's Tiffany Holman got UMR's Wilkinson to foul out and end the inning as the Lady Bearcats held UMR to just one run.
SBU was not threatened by UMR after that Holman retired the next nine out of 10 batters.
Holman picked up the win pitching the complete game with three strikeouts and four hits. Martin and Bounds each had a RBI.
SBU will host Northwest Missouri State on Friday, April 8, at 2:30 p.m.
