For Immediate Release 30 April 2003
The Bearcat
golf team has been invited to its second straight NCAA Division
II Super Regional. The Super Regional will be held at Silo
Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar on May 5-7.
We are tremendously excited about having the opportunity
to host an NCAA Super Regional, said SBU Athletics Director
Jim Middleton. This is the first time SBU has hosted
a golf regional. I think it speaks highly of coach Kevin Cribbs
and the work he has done with the golf program. Further, it
speaks highly of Silo Ridge for having a course worthy of
hosting an NCAA Regional. We look forward to hosting the tournament
and look forward to our fans in the Bolivar community to come
out and see some excellent golf.
SBU was invited to the regional in 2002 for the first time
in school history. The Bearcats enter the 2003 tournament
as the No. 5 team in the region. SBU finished sixth in the
MIAA Postseason Tournament.
Other MIAA teams in the regional and their ranking are Central
Missouri State, Missouri Southern, Missouri Western , Washburn
, Truman and Missouri-Rolla (No. 8). The other team invited
to the tournament by the NCAA is Winona State. They are ranked
No. 5 in the region.
Individual players are Craig Dudenhoeffer (Missouri-Rolla),
Caleb Turbett (Winona State), Justin Carrier (Winona State),

The Great Lakes Region will also take place in the Super Regional
