The Southwest
Baptist baseball team will travel to Maryville to face Mid-America
Intercollegiate Athletics Association foe Northwest Missouri
State in a three game series this weekend, April 25-26. The
Bearcats will play one nine inning game on Friday, April 25
at 3 p.m. before playing one nine and one seven inning game
on Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
The Bearcats are coming off the split of a twinbill at Missouri-Rolla
on Tuesday (4-5 and 6-5). SBU is now 11-30 overall and 6-17
in MIAA action.
SBU is led at the plate by Caleb Stark with a .297 batting
average. He and teammate Tyson Shields lead the team with
38 hits this season. Shields (.284) is second in runs scored
with 24 and leads the team with 27 RBI. MIAA Player of the
Week, Gus Marsala, is second on the team with 26 RBI. Marsala
(.248) leads the team with five homeruns. SBU is hitting .256
as a team.
The Bearcats are led on the mound by Chris Gerleman (1-5).
He has an ERA of 7.23 and has seen 37.1 innings of play. Drew
Osborne (9.20) leads the team in strikeouts with 41. He is
1-6 and has seen action in 45.0 innings. Rust Tanner (8.24)
leads the team in wins with a 3-5 record. he has seen action
in 51.1 innings and has recorded 39 strikeouts. SBU has a
team ERA of 9.75.
Northwest Missouri State enters the week with a 29-11 overall
record. The green and white-clad Bearcats are 15-5 in the
MIAA. They are in second place in the conference standings.
The Bearcats are led by Willie Ciaramitaro with a .350 batting
average. HE also leads thet eam with 46 runs, 48 hits, three
triples and is second in doubles (10) and third in RBI (27).
Leading the team in RBI is John Sipes (.344) with 42. Also
batting above the .300 mark for the Bearcats is Klye Gallagher
(.349), Andrew Donovan (.333), John Bothof (.331), Michael
French (.331), David Dugan (.327), Mike Ruff (.315) and Will
Newland (.300). The Bearcats are batting .320 as a team.
On the mound, NWMSU is led by Brett Rust with a 1.29 ERA.
Rust has seen 49.0 innings of action and is 3-4. David Dugan
is second on the team with a 1.96 ERA. He is 2-2 and has seen
36.2 innings of work. Dugan leads the team with 36 strikeouts.
The Bearcats have a team ERA of 4.33.
