TOPEKA,
Kan. - The Southwest Baptist baseball team is scheduled to
play at Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
foe Washburn in a three-game series this weekend. The Bearcats
will play WU in one nine-inning game on Friday, April 11 at
4 p.m. The two teams will then play two seven-inning games
on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
The Bearcats enter the weekend with a 6-23 overall record.
SBU is 1-10 in MIAA action after taking one of three from
Missouri Western last weekend in Bolivar.
The Bearcts are led by Jesse Dziurawiec at the plate with
a .339 batting average. Second in hitting is Caleb Stark with
a .305 average. He leads the team with 29 hits and 18 RBI
in 95 at bats. Tyson Shields (.277) leads the team in doubles
(8) and is second in hits (26) and RBI (17). The team is batting
.253 this season.
The Bearcats are led on the mound by Tanner Rust (2-4) with
a 6.69 ERA. He has seen 39.0 innings of action and is tied
for strikeouts with Drew Osborne at 33. the Bearcats have
a team ERA of 10.35.
The Ichabods enter the weekend with a 14-14 overall record.
They are 6-5 in the MIAA.
Leading the team at the plate this season is Dylan Smith with
a .467 batting average. Smith leads the team with 50 hits,
26 RBI and is tied for the lead in doubles with five. He is
second in runs with 27. Leading the team in runs is Cameron
Clurman (.375) with 28. Also batting above the .300 mark is
Jason Meysenburg (.406), Kenny Swart (.391), and Sam Sissom
(.310). The Ichabods are averaging .313 at the plate as a
team.
On the mound, the Ichabods are led by Jake Lenherr (2-1) with
a 2.76 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched. Kelvin Smith leads the
Ichabods in innings with 35.0 innings of work and has an ERA
of 4.11. he is 2-3 this season. WU has a team ERA of 5.79
this season.
