ST. JOSEPH
– The Southwest Baptist women's tennis team defeated
Missouri Western in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics
Association action on Tuesday, 7-0.
The Lady Bearcats won all four singles matches and both doubles
for the sweep over the Griffons.
SBU was led by Iza Ferreira with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Kim
Redmond. Valerie Jones defeated Liz Beeson (6-0, 6-2); Lynne
Klaasen defeated Mindy Buschbom (6-4, 4-6, 6-4); and Lindsay
Hickel defeated Ashley Collings (6-0, 6-2) to round out singles
play Tuesday.
The doubles duo of Ferreira and Jones defeated Beeson and
Redmond, 8-3, while Klaasen and Hickel defeated Buschbom and
Collings, 8-4.
SBU returns to action on Wednesday, April 2 at Northwest Missouri
State in Maryville at 2 p.m.
