WARRENSBURG
The mens and womens track and field
team from Southwest Baptist will compete in the Mid-America
Intercollegiate Athletics Association Indoor Track and Field
Championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1.
Ivan Peterson will start out the competition with the triple
jump on Friday. He will also compete in the long jump. Peterson
finished fifth last weekend in Warrensburg with a jump of
12.77 meters.
Peterson and David Sepanski will compete in the 60-meter dash
on Friday. Sepanski will also run in the 200-meter dash. Joe
Wieschhaus will compete in the 600-yard run. Jon Clemence,
Tom Miner and John Harris will run in the 5,000-meter run
while T. Jay Sanderson, Clint Davis, Austin Bunn and Brandon
Sherrer compete in the 2-mile relay.
For the women on Friday, Jenni Duren will start off running
the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Karen Sancken is
the lone Lady Bearcat in the 5,000-meter run and Christine
Showler, Jenny Doke, Jackie Dunn and Sara Tedford will run
in the 2-mile relay.
On Saturday, Sanderson, Sherrer and Michael Haub will compete
in the mens mile. Showler and Tedford will run in the
womens mile competition. Davis, Clemence, Miner and
Harris will run in the mens 3,000-meter race while Sancken,
Dunn, Doke, Susan Greer and Erika Anderson run in the womens
portion of the 3,000 meters. The day will complete with Sanderson,
Sherrer, Sepanski and Peterson running in the mile relay.
At the MIAA Championships, the top six places in the individual
events and the top three in relays receive All-MIAA honors.
