ALTON,
Ill. The Southwest Baptist womens tennis team
will return to action this weekend, Feb. 21-22, at the Principia
Invitational in Alton, Ill.
SBU is coming off a season-opening 9-0 loss to Northeastern
State (Okla.) last Friday. SBUs Iza Ferreira led the
Lady Bearcats when she lost a close match to Zorana Stefanovic
of NSU, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. Stefanovic is ranked No. 9 in the
nation in singles. Also playing a close match in singles was
Lynne Klaasen, who lost to Berit Itschert in singles, 6-3,
6-4.
The Invitational will be a flighted tournament and will contain
six teams, including SBU, Principia and Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association foe Truman.
This tournament is another opportunity to gain some
valuable match time before we head into the MIAA season,
said SBU Head Coach Ray Still.
