BASEBALL AT HOME SATURDAY

BOLIVAR – The Southwest Baptist baseball team is scheduled to host Rockhurst on Saturday, Feb. 22 at noon for a doubleheader barring inclement weather.

The Bearcats are coming off back-to-back losses at Harding on Monday, Feb. 17. The games against the Buffaloes were rescheduled from Saturday to Monday because of excess moisture. SBU lost 5-1 and 2-1 (11 innings).

In the first game, Harding scored four runs (three earned) on six hits against SBU’s Drew Osborne. He allowed five walks, but struck out five batters. Harding struck out 12 of SBU’s batters in game one.

SBU was led by Tanner Rust in the second game. Rust pitched seven innings allowing just two hits and one run, which was unearned. He recorded five strikeouts. Seth Burrell entered the game and pitched two innings and allowed one hit and one earned run. The Buffaloes struck out 18 SBU hitters in game two. HU finished the weekend with a .53 ERA.

The Bearcats averaged .133 at the plate in their first two games this season. Thomas McPhail and Kenneth Hill lead the team with a .333 hitting percentage each. Both got one hit in three at bats on Monday. Tyson Shields leads the team with two hits.

SBU made five errors on Monday.

The Bearcat pitching squad is led by Rust with a 0.00 ERA in seven innings pitched. The team has a 3.00 ERA.

Rockhurst enters the weekend with a 0-2 record as well. hey have had several games rescheduled or cancelled including a four-game series against Emporia State which has been moved to Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 19-20.
