Southwest
Baptist University and Fast ‘N Friendly will host Cheryl
Burnett Day at Davison Field House on Saturday, Feb. 22 during
the men’s and women’s doubleheader against Missouri
Western. The women’s game will begin at 1:30 p.m. with
the men tipping off at 3:30 p.m.
The former Southwest Missouri State Lady Bears coach will
be available for photographs and autographs between the two
games Saturday.
Burnett took over the Lady Bears basketball program in 1987
after spending the three previous seasons as an assistant
coach. She led SMS to two Final Four appearances (1992 and
2001). While at the helm of the maroon and white, Burnett
amassed 319 wins, eight regular-season conference titles,
five conference tournament titles and 10 NCAA Tournament appearances
in 12 seasons.
The SBU men’s and women’s senior basketball student-athletes
will also be honored on Feb. 22. Saturday will also be SBU’s
Courtwarming festivities.
Admission to the games is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
