trOUSDELL QUESTION ANSWERED

For Immediate Release 10 February 2002

Southwest Baptist University men's basketball student-athlete Arthur Trousdell has been declared ineligible following an internal investigation. He is being withheld from further competition for the remainder of the 2002-03 season pending NCAA and Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ruling. Due to improper eligibility certification of a college transcript, the student-athlete competed as an ineligible player. Therefore, to comply with MIAA by-laws, all games in which the student-athlete competed as an ineligible player will be forfeited. Southwest Baptist University is seeking reinstatement of future eligibility for the student-athlete through the NCAA waiver process.

Trousdell (pronounced trOWS - dell) led the team with 15.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. He was averaging .576 from the field and .855 from the charity stripe. In MIAA play, the freshman from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand, was averaging 16.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He was shooting .608 from the field and .903 from the free throw line.
