Southwest
Baptists mens basketball team will host Missouri
Valley College at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16. The game is
the last non-conference contest for SBU before they begin
the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association schedule.
SBU (3-4) is coming off an 87-61 loss to Harding on Saturday.
The Bison used a 49-26 second half score to defeat the Bearcats.
The Bearcats were down only three points (38-35) at the half,
but shot only 31 percent from the field and were 0-4 from
the arc in the second period. SBU shot 20 percent from the
arc all night (2-10) and only 50 percent from the charity
stripe (9-18).
Leading the Bearcats Saturday was D.J. Hogue with 13 points.
Also scoring in double figures for SBU was David Coutchie
(12) and Arthur Trousdell (10). Kendrick Jackson led the Bearcats
with a game-high 12 rebounds.
Trousdell leads the team with 15.3 points per outing. He is
third in rebounding with 6.3 boards per game. Ryan Stock is
second in points with 12.1 per game. He is also averaging
6.6 rebounds per game and a team-best 5.9 assists per contest.
Leading the team in rebounds is Kendrick Jackson with 7.6
per game. Also averaging in double figures for the Bearcats
is D.J. Hogue (11.0) and David Coutchie (10.4).
SBU is shooting .453 from the field, .348 from the three-point
arc and .722 from the charity stripe.
Missouri Valley (4-8) enters the game on a two-game skid.
The Vikings lost to Columbia College on Dec. 12, 63-32. MVC
also lost on Saturday, dropping a 78-61 decision to Peru State.
MVC is led by Sam Mcintyre with 15.1 points per game. No other
Viking is in double figures, however, three players are averaging
at least nine points a game. Chris Schulze leads the team
with 7.33 rebounds per outing.
The Vikings are shooting .418 from the field, .356 from the
arc and .632 from the free throw line this season.
SBU leads the series, 10-0.
