Southwest
Baptists mens basketball team will host Harding
on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 8 p.m. and hope to keep their three-game
winning streak alive.
The Bearcats defeated Central Bible College last Thursday,
75-64. SBU was led by freshman Arthur Trousdell with 19 points
and 10 rebounds. It was his first double-double in his collegiate
career. Also scoring in double figures for the Bearcats were
Kendrick Jackson (16), Ryan Stock (14) and D.J. Hogue (11).
SBU shot 50 percent from the field (33-66), 100 percent from
the charity stripe (7-7), but only 16.7 percent from the three-point
arc (2-12).
Leading SBU this season is Trousdell with 16.2 points per
outing. He is also \averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.
Second on the team in scoring is Ryan Stock with 12.8 points
per game. He is averaging a team-high 7.0 rebounds and 5.8
assists per game.
Also averaging in double digit points are D.J. Hogue (10.7),
Marcus Jackson (10.2) and David Coutchie (10.2).
SBU is shooting .455 from the field, .366 from the arc and
.759 from the line. They have outrebounded their opponents,
37.8-34.7, so far this season.
Harding enters the week with a 5-0 record. They defeated Montevallo
on Saturday, Dec. 7, 95-66 in Searcy, Ark. The Bisons sank
15 three-pointers, second most in school history, to win the
game. Prior to Saturdays game, HU had hit nine three-pointers
in each of their first four games.
Leading the Bisons on Saturday was Jason Malek with 26 points.
He hit three of the 15 three-pointers and led the team with
seven rebounds. Second on the team in scoring was Aaron Farley
with 22 points. He hit six of the 15 shots from the arc.
The Bisons are led by Malek this season. He is averaging 20
points per game and 6.2 rebounds per outing. Also scoring
in double figures this season is Aaron Farley (18.6) and Chris
Campbell (12.6). Yahaya Ibrahim and Carl Vault are second
on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.0 rebounds a piece.
HU is averaging .519 from the field, .402 from the arc and
.722 from the line.
Harding leads the series, 4-2, including a close game last
season in Searcy, Ark. that saw the Bearcats fall 77-75.
