Southwest
Baptists womens basketball team will travel to
Arkadelphia, Ark. on Tuesday, Dec. 3 to face Henderson State
at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bearcats are coming off a 67-60 loss in Tahlequah,
Okla. to Northeastern State on Saturday, Nov. 30.
SBU (3-1) is led by Amber Wheeler with 16.8 points per game.
She is shooting .500 from the field and .550 from the three-point
arc. She has hit 87.5 percent of her throws at the charity
stripe.
Second on the team in scoring is Allison Davis with 11.5 points
per outing. Also scoring in double figures this season is
Alicia Mercer (10.5) and Gwyn Smith (10.0). Smith leads the
Lady Cats with 7.2 rebounds per game, followed by Mercer
with 5.5 rebounds per outing.
SBU has shot .442 from the field, .377 from the arc and .690
from the line. They have outscored their opponents 75.8 to
65.2.
Henderson State (1-2) is coming off their first win under
first-year head coach Jeff Caldwell. HSU defeated Philander
Smith on Saturday, Nov. 30, 88-59.
Kayla Madewell led the Lady Reddies with 19 points. TaKeela
Ball added 13 points and eight rebounds while Crystal Oates
had 10 points. Satoya Spates had a double-double with 10 points
and 11 rebounds.
HSU led 26-24 at the half and outscored their opponents 62-35
in the second period Saturday night.
The Lady Reddies two losses came to Southeast Missouri State
on Nov. 22 (85-65) and Texas A&M-Commerce on Nov. 26 (62-58).
SBU leads the series, 1-0. The Lady Bearcats won the only
meeting on Dec. 10, 1993, 73-66.
