SOUTHWEST BAPTIST BLANKS trUMAN STATE IN FIRST ROUND

BOLIVAR, MO. . #14 Southwest Baptist University (22-4) took their first step in repeating as North Central Champions as they blanked Truman State University (8-8), 5-0. This is the second time this year that SBU has defeated Truman, 5-0.

SBU cruised out to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play. Andras Bori and Mark Eori, ranked #17 in the nation, took Tyler Wood and Ryan Cope, 8-2. In the #2 match, Dante Cipulli/Johan Nortje won 8-3 over Ben Smith and Sean Cooper. Peter Joos and Brian Harrelson then made it 3-0 with an 8-4 win over Brad Martin/Steve Jones.

Cipulli, the #2 singles player in the nation, scored the fourth point with a 6-1, 6-1, win over Tyler Wood. Andras Bori then finished the match with a victory over Ben Smith in the #2 singles match, 6-2, 6-1.

SBU has now won 10 matches in a row and will take on Colorado State University-Pueblo at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, at the John Bryant Tennis Center.
