#6 BEARCATS WIN SEVENTH MATCH IN A ROW

PENSACOLA, FL. ... The Southwest Baptist University men’s tennis team won their seventh match in a row to improve to 8-2 on the 2004 campaign. After starting the year at 1-2, SBU has ripped off seven straight wins with their latest coming in Florida against NAIA #9 Berry College, 9-0.
In their third match in two days, the Bearcats came away with a good win over the top 10 NAIA school, 9-0. SBU had to work to get points in teh #2 and #4 positions. #2 Andras Bori held off Alberto Lara, 7-6, 6-4 for the win and then #4 Johan Nortje pulled away from Marc Duckeck, 7-6, 7-5.
#1 Dante Cipulli was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Sven Plass, who is ranked #2 in the NAIA in singles competion. In the #3 position, Mark Eori beat Tyler Faulkner, 6-3, 6-2, and then Peter Joos (#5 over Philip Campbell, 6-1, 6-1) and John Paden (#6 over Matt Marsico, 6-3, 6-3) picked up the other singles win.
In the doubles competition, SBU had three easy wins as Eori/Bori won 8-2 in the the #1 position, Nortje/Cipulli claimed the #2 win, 8-3, and Brian Harrelson/Joos took the #3 spot, 8-3.
SBU will take on #2 in the nation West Florida on Wednesday, March 17th at 2 p.m. in Pensacola, Florida.
