Senior Mark Eori picked up the his first MIAA "Player of the Week" award and the second for SBU in two weeks.
Eori, a 6-foot-5 senior from Gyor, Hungary, helped the No. 11 Bearcats to a 4-2 record during their southern swing last week, going 5-1 in No. 3 singles.
He posted two wins over ranked singles players -- defeating No. 6 Randovan Chrz of West Florida (the No. 2-ranked team in D-II), 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and No. 44 Norman Weidle of Valdosta (Ga.) State (ranked No. 7 as a team), 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
Eori also posted straight-set wins over Julien Noureaux of No. 37 Delta (Miss.) State (6-1, 6-2), Tyler Faulkner of Berry (Ga.) (6-3, 6-2) and Everett White of Tuskegee (Ala.) (6-1, 6-1).
His only loss was to Masimba Muskwe of NCAA Division I Murray (Ky.) State, 6-4, 6-3, after Eori and partner Andras Bori downed Muskwe and Zakaria Bahri, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles. He and Bori went 4-2 in doubles.
Eori, the 2002-03 Ken B. Jones Award winner as MIAA Student-Athlete of the Year, is a graduate of Miklos Revai High School.
