March 16, 2004 OVERLAND PARK, KAN. ... Junior Dante Cipulli has picked up the first MIAA award this year for the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats as the “Player of the Week." He has helped to guide the Bearcats to a 7-2 start and a #1 Regional ranking along with a #6 national ranking.
Cipulli helped SBU to a 4-3 win over NCAA Division I foe Southwest Missouri State. He picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jiri Spousta at No. 1 singles, then teammed with Johan Nortje for a 9-8 (7-4 tiebreaker) win at No. 2 doubles over Nenad Curcic and Filip Knezevic.
With the win, Cipulli stayed undefeated at the #1 singles position with a 7-0 record.
