BOLIVAR
- The Bearcats (9-10, 5-6) dropped a 68-55 decision to Washburn,
ending a five-game winning streak at home.
SBU took
a 4-2 lead with 18:42 left in the first half, but Washburn
tied the game and never looked back. The Bearcats hung with
Washburn through the first half, trailing by only seven at
the break, 32-25.
The Ichabods
ran the lead to double digits three different times before
they hit a double-digit lead for good with 15:01 left (46-36).
SBU was
led by D.J. Hogue with 22 points. Ryan Stock also scored in
double figures with 10 and led SBU with seven rebounds.
The Bearcats
shot .350 from the field (21-60), .286 from the arc (4-14)
and .562 from the charity stripe (9-16).
The Ichabods
were led by Manny Clifton with 18 points. Troy Douglas led
the team with eight boards. Also scoring in double digits
was Jeremy Cunningham (13), Gary Woodlan (12) and Troy Douglas
(10).
WU shot
.527 from the field (29-55), .500 from the arc (6-12) and
.571 from the line (4-7).
The Bearcats
were without the services of David Coutchie because of injury.
It was the first game he has missed in his career at SBU.
He says it is the first game of competition he has missed
since the fourth grade.
SBU will
return to action on Saturday at Central Missouri State for
a 3 p.m. tipoff.
