BOLIVAR
- Despite outscoring their opponents 41-38 in the second half,
SBU dropped its first MIAA game of the season to Missouri-Rolla,
71-67.
The Bearcats
were led by the 23 points and 10 rebounds of freshman Arthur
Trousdell, but SBU could not overcome the 33-26 deficit from
halftime.
Also scoring
in double figures for the Bearcats was D.J. Hogue (12) and
Ashley McCormick (12), who got into double digits for the
first time in an SBU uniform.
SBU shot
.474 from the field (27-57), .200 from the three-point arc
(3-15) and .556 from the free throw line (10-18).
SBU got
within two points with just minutes left, but could not climb
over the hump to win the ballgame.
UMR was
led by Josh Shaw with 15 points. Shaw was seven of nine from
the line, including clutch shots with just seconds left in
the game to put the contest out of reach. Also scoring in
double figures for the Miners was Brian Westre (13) and Damian
Henderson (12).
SBU will
host Missouri Southern at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4.
