BOLIVAR
- The Bearcats got out to a 28-12 lead in the first 10:26
of Tuesday's ball game and trailed only after the first bucket
of Truman1:02 into the game.
The Bearcats
(9-8, 5-4) kept double digit leads until 15:46 left in the
second half when Jiri Mikl made a jumper to get the lead down
to eight (42-34). SBU used a 25-5 run to go on top of the
Bulldogs 67-39 with 7:06 remaining in the game.
It wasn't
until 2:22 left on the clock before Truman got the lead below
21 points to 19. The Bulldogs' Garret Grimm hit a layup to
make the score 77-58. SBU's Antwan Butler hit a two-pointer
from the right side to put the Bearcats up by 21, however
TSU scored the game's last seven points.
SBU won
79-65 and was led by Ashley McCormick with 16 points. Four
other Bearcats were in double figures Tuesday: David Coutchie
(14), Ryan Stock (13), Marcus Jackson (12) and D.J. Hogue
(10). Leading the Bearcats in rebounding was Kendrick Jackson
with eight.
SBU shot
.482 from the field (27-56), .412 from the three-point arc
(7-17) and .720 from the charity stripe (18-25).
Truman
(5-13, 1-8) was led by Matt Beran with 19 points and Mikl
with 13 points. Beran had a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Bulldogs
shot .403 from the field (27-67), .308 from the arc (4-13)
and .500 from the line (7-14).
SBU returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Joplin when they face Missouri Southern. The Bearcats won the first meeting of the two teams this season, 80-65.
