ST. JOSEPH-
The Bearcats outscored the Griffons of Missouri Western in
the second half on Saturday, 37-32, but it wasnt enough
to overcome the 45-29 halftime deficit.
SBU trailed from the get-go and the Griffons built a 24-12
lead with 11:26 remaining in the first half. MWSC led by as
many as 16 on three different occasions, including going into
halftime.
The Bearcats deficit got as big as 18 at the beginning
of the first half, but they chiseled away to close the lead
to six points with 2:37 left.
The Griffons hit seven straight free throws in the last 1:12
of the game.
SBU was led in defeat by Ryan Stock with 19 points. David
Coutchie finished the game with 14 points and D.J. Hogue added
10 to round out the Bearcats in double figures. Kendrick Jackson
led the team with 10 rebounds.
The Bearcats shot .426 from the field, .333 from the three-point
arc and .609 from the charity stripe.
SBU returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 28 when it hosts Truman
at 7:45 p.m.
