MARYVILLE
- SBU dropped its game in Maryville on Saturday, 84-71, after
hanging close for most of the first half.
The Bearcats took the lead 51 seconds into the game on a layup
by Ryan Stock. The game went back and forth before the Northwest
Bearcats went on a 10-0 run (21-11). The game got down to
five points (27-22) with 6:22 left in the first half, but
SBU would get no closer.
The green and white Bearcats led at halftime, 43-31 and never
looked back, holding a double-digit lead for the rest of the
contest.
The SBU Bearcats were led in the defeat by Arthur Trousdell
with 18 points and seven rebounds. D.J. Hogue and David Coutchie
both finished with 15 points each while Ryan Stock added 10.
Coutchie also had seven rebounds for the Bearcats. SBU was
down 43-31 at the break.
SBU shot .460 from the field (23-50), .250 from the three-point
arc (4-16) and .875 from the charity stripe (21-24) on Saturday.
SBU returns
to action on Tuesday, Jan. 21 when it hosts Pittsburg State
at 7:45 p.m.
