BOLIVAR
- The SBU Bearcats returned to the .500 mark Saturday by defeating
rival Central Missouri State to complete a home doubleheader
sweep, 77-61.
SBU (6-6,
2-2) was led by 31 points from junior David Coutchie. The
guard was 11-13 from the field, including four of five from
the three-point arc and four of five from the charity stripe.
Coutchie scored 29 of his points in the second half.
Leading
the Bearcats in rebounds was senior Ryan Stock with 10. he
was second in scoring with 16 points. He was two assists away
from a triple-triple (eight assists).
Also scoring
in double figures was Arthur Trousdell with 10 points. Kendrick
Jackson was second in rebounding with nine on the evening.
SBU faced
a 33-29 deficit at the break, but outscored the Mules 48-28
in the second stanza. The Bearcats were at one time in the
second half on a 16-0 run.
SBU shot
.500 from the field (27-54), .308 from the arc (4-13) and
.760 from the line (19-25).
The Mules
(7-5, 1-3) were led by Brian Rhodes with 14 points. He was
the only Mule in double figures. Mark DeBaun led the team
with seven rebounds.
CMSU shot
.333 from the field (22-66), .227 from the arc (5-22) and
.600 from the free throw line (12-20).
SBU will
return to action on Thursday, Jan. 16 when it hosts Emporia
State at 7:45 p.m.
