Men's Basketball Assistant Coach
Stan Johnson

SBU Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, Stan JohnsonStan Johnson enters his third season at Southwest Baptist and his fourth as Jeff Guiot’s top assistant.  In his first two seasons at SBU, Johnson has helped bring in some of the top talent for the Bearcat program.

Johnson and Guiot have combined to win two championships in the past three seasons.  In the 2005-06 season, Johnson helped SBU to a 27-5 record and their first MIAA regular season and tournament championship since the 1991 season.

In his first season at the SBU, Johnson helped turn around the Bearcat program, helping them to their first winning season in 10 years.  For his efforts, Johnson was awarded the “SBU Newcomer of the Year” award.

Johnson had a stellar NCAA Division I and II career as he played three years at Southern Utah and finished his career at Bemidji State.

In only one year at Bemidji, he was named to the all-NSIC Honorable Mention team. In the NSIC semifinal game, he nailed seven three-pointers for a NSIC record in a 79-78 overtime loss to MSU-Moorehead. For his performance, he was named to the NSIC all-tournament team, the first Beaver to ever be recognized in the tournament. He was also the team captain and led the Beavers to a 20-10 record.
