Men's Basketball Assistant Coach JC Carter enters his first season at Southwest Baptist and his fourth season coaching overall. He has coached at two Division I programs (University of Texas Pan-American, California State University - Northridge) and was a head high school (Village Christian HS) for two years in California. At UTPA, Carter helped coach the Broncs team that upset #25 Air Force. In the same 2003-04 season, UTPA had a winning streak of nine, which was one of the longest active winning streaks in the nation. Village Christian HS featured six all-conference players during Carter's leadership and was ranked as high as 5th in Division IV. The Crusaders advanced twice to the 2nd round of the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) in 2005 and 2006. During Carter's time at Cal-State Northridge, where he coached guards, two players won player-of-the-week, one player was named All Big West Conference, and another earned the All Big West 'Hustle' Award. They set the school scoring record with 159 points in a single game. Carter was married to Jennifer Smith of Joplin, MO in August 2007.
