Senior Cedric Ousley scored all of hisseason high 15 points from the three-point line, shooting 5-10 (50%). Ousley set new career highs for three pointers made in a game and attempted.

ROLLA, MO. ...Usually when SBU converts sixteen treys and shoots over 40 in a single game, the Bearcats have been known to put up some devastating results and have won games by an average of of 47 points, but Missouri-Rolla (7-6 / 1-3 MIAA) had other plans pulling off the upset over Southwest Baptist (8-6 / 2-3 MIAA) 80-71 on Wednesday night.

Cedric Ousley hit the opening shot to put SBU ahead 3-0 ten seconds into the game, but that would be the only and last time the Bearcats would see the lead. Ousley finished the game with a team high and new season high 15 points, all from beyond the arc shooting 5-10. For the season, Ousley has made 36 shots on the season and 35 are from the three-point line. Ousley also set new personal career highs on Wednesday for three-pointers made in a game and attempted.

With UMR up 21-18 late in the first half, there was a questionable no call underneath the rim when Martez Young penetrated the baseline and then was greeted by multiple Miners. Head coach Jeff Guiot received a technical foul while voicing his displeasure of the sequence to the referees. After the technical, Missouri-Rolla ended the half up nine, 31-22.

SBU could not find any second half heroics leftover from last Saturday's game vs. Pittsburg St. and found themselves down by as many as 15 points at one time, but there was one impressive rally in the second half that put the Miners on the defensive when the Bearcats forced six straight turnovers including two steals from Deon Davis and went on a 10-0 run to bring Southwest Baptist down by only four with 7:59 remaining. That was the closest SBU would come for the rest of the game.

Missouri-Rolla came into tonight's game leading the conference in scoring defense only allowing 59.8 points per game, which ranks seventh in the entire nation. SBU came into the matchup 2nd in the conference in scoring offense, putting up 84.7 points per game. In this first matchup of the year between the two teams, defense took home the victory.

UMR only played seven players throughout the night and five scored in double figures including MIAA top scorers Josh Shaw with a game high 23 points and Jermaine Burks, pitching in with 18.

The Bearcats return home this Saturday night to take on a red hot Missouri Southern squad, who just recently upset newly ranked #15 Central Missouri State in Joplin, MO. MSSU forward Orestus Cavness was named MIAA Player of the Week for his play against PSU and NWMSU last week. Cavness has been averaging over 30 points per game the last three games. The game is slated to tip off at 7:45 pm.

KEY STATS: SBU shot a season high 47 three pointers and converted 16 of them. This was the first game where the Bearcats came out on the losing side after attempting at least 40 treys in a game. SBU is now 4-1 on the season when shooting at least 40 three-pointers.
