In the game, SBU only had nine turnovers but only shot 22% from the foul line. TSU out rebounded SBU, 36-31, but turned the ball over 11 times.

Shooting 70% in the first half from the floor, didn't take charge of the game until the 5:34 mark when Marcus Jackson nailed a layup for a 10-point lead, 33-23. In the first five minutes of the game, there were three ties. TSU broke away from the tie on a three-pointer by TSU's Austin Kirby for a 9-6 lead. After a missed SBU shot, TSU extended the lead to five points. SBU's David Hendeson cut the lead back to three but TSU answered right back to keep the lead at five, 13-8. In the next 11 minutes, SBU came right back at TSU with a 34-14 run.

SBU cut the lead to one, 13-12, (13:29), but TSU's Chip Sodemann canned a three-pointer to keep the lead at four. It didn't take long for SBU to challenge that lead with a three-pointer by David Martin and a layup and by Trousdell to give the Bearcats a 17-16 lead. TSU scored quickly on the next possession to retake the lead, 18-17. Ousley's first three-pointer of the night put SBU on top for good, 20-18. After a missed shot by Henderson at the 10:35 mark, SBU hit 12 of 14 shots to finish out the half. SBU took a 15-point lead, 42-27, with 3:37 left in the half on a fast break dunk by Trousdell. They took their biggest lead of 17-points on a Brown three-pointer at the 00:46 mark. They took that 17-point lead into halftime, 48-31.

Truman State reeled off seven straight points in the first three minutes of the second half to cut into the lead, 48-38. Another Brown three-pointer put the lead back at 13 but TSU did not give up. In less than a minute, TSU scored five points to make it an eight point ball game, 51-43. Brown answered with a three-pointer to put the lead back in double-digits but TSU nalled another three-pointer to keep the lead at eight. Eight straight points by SBU in the next two minutes put the Bearcats up by 16, 62-46 (13:41). TSU never got the lead under double-digits again. They did come within 11 points, once, but SBU kept their distance with great defense, key rebounds, and solid shooting.

With the win, SBU has won two in a row and now will take on #2 Northwest Missouri State University on Saturday, January 31st, at 3:30 p.m. in Davison Field House.
