ST. JOSEPH, MO. ... Moving up on the second day by 20 strokes, Southwest Baptist secured sixth place on the final day of play in the NCAA Super Regional held in St. Joseph, Missouri, with a three day total of 939 (322-302-315). After day one, SBU was tied for 7th place but then shot a 302 on day two to move into sixth place. Washburn University (298-294-298=890).
Freshman Clay Brandenburg turned in the best performance on day three as he shot a 75 to finish in 20th (79-78-75=232). Each day he knocked atleast a stroke off of his final score.
Senior Nick Layman finished his collegiate career tied for 17th in the regional. He finished with a 79 on the final day. On day two, he had the second best score, a 71, and knocked off 10 strokes from day one (81). He finished with a 231.
Tying for 26th was junior Mike Martinez. He also gave his best performance on day two and three. On both days, he recorded a 77 and finished wiht a 237.
Freshmen Jared and Adam Lotz finished in 36th and 43. Jared's best day came on day two when he shot a 76. He claimed a 240 (79-76-85) after three days. Adam Lotz shot an 84 on the final day to finish with 254 (86-84-84).
