BLUE SPRINGS, MO. ... After creeping into sixth place after the first round, Southwest Baptist did not move up any further on the final day of play in the MIAA Championships. SBU (319-154-156-320=949) finished with a six-stroke lead over Pittsburg State.
Washburn claimed the MIAA Championship by 12 strokes over Central Missouri State. WU also won the regular season MIAA Championship with a perfect score of 42 points.
On the final day, SBU shot a 156 on the first nine holes and then a 320 on the final 18 to finish with a 949. They shot a 319 on day one of the 18 holes and a 154 on nine holes.
Freshman Adam Lotz was the top SBU golfer as he tied for 22nd (83-37-39-77=236). Nick Layman jumped up to finish tied for 28th (79-43-38-79=239) while Jared Lotz tied for 30th (78-42-40-80-240). Clay Brandenburg fell to 33rd place (79-38-41-84) and Mike Martinez was 36th (83-37-39-85).
SBU will now wait to see if they receive a bid to the NCAA Division II Super Regionals. |
