ST. JOSEPH, MO. ... The first golf meet came to an end in wintery conditions but that did not stop Southwest Baptist from finishing third overall in the Missouri Western Invitational. SBU finished with a 670 (331-339) and had two players in the top 20. Missouri Western won the meet with a total of 623 (308-315) while Winona State was second (325-320=645).
Nick Layman led the way for the Bearcats as he finished tied for second, just five strokes behind medallist Brice Garnett of Missouri Western (72-77=149). Layman shot a 78 on the first day and then fired a second round best of 76 on day two to finish at 154. Clay Brandenburg tied for 18th with a score of 169 (84-85).
Rounding out the scoring for SBU was Mike Martinez (24th - 85-89=174), Jared Lotz (28th - 84-94=178), and Adam Lotz (31st - 91-89=180).
SBU will be in Joplin, Missouri, on March 28 and 29 for the Missouri Southern Invitational. |
