Ben Blake Head Coach Keith Allen has announced that Ben Blake has joined the SBU Football coaching staff. Blake will coach the offensive line. Allen states: "After reviewing over 50 resumes and interviewing many candidates, it became very obvious to me and our coaching staff that Ben was the perfect fit for the position and the program. He is a great Christian man with a strong work ethic and has a passion for the game that is evident in the young men he coaches. With Ben at the helm, I expect to see a great increase in the level of play from our offensive linemen this season." Blake was a 4-year starter as an offensive lineman at Concorida University in Wisconsin. He was an All-Conference selection 3 times and selected as Offensive Linemen of the Year (IBFC) in 2003. He captained the 2003 CUW team that made its first-ever NCAA appearance. As a graduate assistant at Concordia, Blake has coached the offensive line (2004) and tight ends (2005). At Highland Community College (2006), Blake coached the offensive line and was the strength and conditioning coordinator. Blake is excited about his new position on the Bearcat staff. "I love the area. My Mom and Dad live here so it is nice to be by family - especially now, when I am looking to start my own. Coach Allen is exactly someone I look to work for and the Christian-based coaching staff is exactly what I enjoy. Not every staff in America opens with a prayer before a staff meeting. It truly is a family here and I feel right at home. "I am originally from St. Louis so getting to see Cardinal and Rams games are going to be good as well." |
