Pittsburg, Kansas ... Playing one of the toughest teams in the nation, the Southwest Baptist University Bearcats could not stop the #4 Pittsburg State University Gorillas.
PSU scored on every possession in the first half to take a 45-0 halftime lead that led to the 69-0 win. Playing the #1 defense in the MIAA, the SBU offense had a tough time getting started all day.
On the opening drive, PSU's Vernard Veasley picked off Robert Clardy at the SBU 42-yard line. SBU's defense held the Gorillas to just 12-yards and PSU had to settle for a 46-yard field goal.
SBU could not get anything started after the opening drive and PSU came away with scores on every drive except their final one in the fourth quarter.
The Bearcats will take on another top 20 team in #15 Central Missouri State in Warrensburg at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 25th.
