MILLER POWERS BEARCATS TO A SWEEP OVER WESTMINSTER

BOLIVAR, MO. ... Southwest Baptist (4-4-1) put on a power display to sweep Westminster College in a two-game doubleheader at Dodson Baseball Field on Saturday. The Bearcats have now won four games in a row after starting the season 0-4-1.

Game 1
Dustin Childress pitched seven complete innings, only allowing three hits and gave up one unearned run. Childress finished with five strikouts, upping his season total to 19 k's in 17 1/3 innings and lowering his era to 2.60.
In his first at bat of the day, Kevin Miller connected on a solo home run for the Bearcats' first run of the day. Miller then doubled to drive in Jesse Dziurawwiec in the third to start a huge third inning for SBU. Jason Hines and Skyler Powers hit back-to-back home runs to give more than enough run support for Childress.
In the fourth inning, Miller hit a bases loaded triple to make the score 8-1 and on his final at bat in the sixth, only needing a single to complete the cycle, Miller flew out to deep center field.
Dziurawiec finished the game 2-2 with three runs scored, Powers went 2-4 with 2 RBIs, and Hines went 1-2 with 3 RBIs.

SBU started the second game a little different than the first, being down 2-0 after the first inning. Drew Osborne allowed a two out single, walk, and then two run double to Westminster College.
It only took the Bearcats one inning to regain the lead, scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Jason Hines doubled to center field, then Caleb Stark singled him home, Chris Martin singled to center field to score Stark, and Spencer Wilkins scored off of a sacrifice fly from Robby Hallock.
Kevin Miller hit a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third inning and hit his third homerun of the day in the bottom of the fifth with another solo homerun to left field. Miller finished the day 5-7 from the plate, 8 RBIs, and the three homeruns.
Caleb Stark went 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI in game two, Skyler Powers went a perfect 2-2 and one run scored. John Facteau and Danny Malone combined to pitch two shutout innings in relief.
SBU will be home on Tuesday, March 1, when they host Arkansas Tech University at 1:00 p.m.
