SBU CLAIMS ONE WIN OVER AUGUSTANA (S.D.)

Game 1/Game 2
BOLIVAR, MO. ... Pulling out a thriller in game one, the Southwest Baptist Universitiy Bearcats (11-12) won on a single by Caleb Stark in the bottom of the 10th inning, 1-0, over Augustana College (S.D.). SBU then dropped the second game, 2-0, as AC improved their record to 2-4.
Game 1
Caleb Stark got a second chance to win the game for SBU in the 10th inning as he singled home Kevin Miller for a 1-0 win. That win put SBU at 11-11 on the season. He was also the only Bearcat with two hits. Jason Hines had a double for SBU.
Dustin Childress pitched eight innings before he left the game as Drew Osborne took over and received the win. Childress had six strikeouts and only gave up three hits. Osborne improved his record to 2-3 with two strikeouts and one hit.
Game 2
SBU was not as lucky in the second game of the double header as they did not get a hit when it was needed. The Bearcats had runners in scoring position three different times but could not bring them home as they lost, 3-0.
Kevin Miller went two-of-three and was the only Bearcat with two hits. Tanner Rust went the distance for SBU and took the loss (2-2). He had two strikeouts with eight hits and two earned runs scored.
AC had a run in the first and second innings for the 2-0 win.
SBU will open MIAA play on Tuesday, March 23rd, at 1 p.m. at Central Missouri State in Warrensburg. |
