Joanne Vaughan, Assistant Athletics Director for Academics/Senior Women's Administrator
In November of 1998, Joanne Vaughan came aboard the SBU athletics staff and was named assistant athletics director for academic support. Her primary responsibilities are to enhance the academic support program for student-athletes and oversee SBU’s eight women’s sports programs.
Prior to accepting her position in the athletics department, Vaughan served as director of the University Learning Center from 1985-98. Before coming to Bolivar in 1985, she taught elementary school for 22 years. She served as a councilwoman in Bolivar from 1989-97.
Vaughan received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Memphis in 1963, and a master’s in education from Memphis in 1984. She also earned an Ed.S. degree in 1989 from Southwest Missouri State (now known as Missouri State University).
Joanne and her husband, John, have two children, Johnna V. Lynch and John, and five grandchildren.
