Assistant Director of Athletics for Operations Mike Pitts
In November 2008, SBU director of athletics Brent Good announced that Mike Pitts was named assistant athletic director for operations, after serving for two years as media relations / sports information director. 
Good commented, “Mike has great leadership skills, work ethic and integrity. He loves SBU and SBU athletics. It was very obvious the day I met Mike he would be a great asset to our staff. I am very proud of the work Mike and the media relations staff along with all the staff who have taken on additional duties in covering all our sports. Posting game stats, writing game results, contacting media, promoting our student athletes, coaches and teams, have brought recognition in the MIAA and NCAA Division II national news.”
Mike will be responsible for game management, game promotions, athletic facilities, and marketing. Mike has also been serving on the SBU Athletics Hall of Fame committee. In addition to his family and athletic responsibilities, Mike is completing a masters degree and serves as the worship leader for the Esquire on Wednesday nights.
Pitts, a native of Summersville, MO, is a 1985 SBU graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. Mike’s wife, Rhonda, is a Bolivar native. They have been married 16 years. Their oldest son, Jack is 9 and is an avid basketball player. Their youngest son, Brock, is 6 and is an avid hockey player.
