BOLIVAR, MO -- Livia Brito had 17 points, Cortney Shewmaker had 16 and Amber Wheeler added 12 as the Lady ‘Cats beat Pittsburg State Gorillas 72-68, taking SBU to 2-3 in the MIAA and 10-4 overall.

Head Coach Jim Middleton said “Pitt State is known for their free throws, we did a good job of keeping them off the line. Tonight we did a great job of hitting our free throws in a hard fought game.”

SBU missed only one free throw the whole game, ending the night with a free throw percentage of 92.3.

Middleton added “Cortney Shewmaker had a nice ball game as she controlled the tempo and hit some big shots. I give Pitt State credit for not letting us break away. Our defense dictated the game which was nice to see.”
