Senior Jared Young finishes one of six Bearcat dunks.
BOLIVAR, MO -- The SBU Bearcats defeated Harris-Stowe State University 104-56 Saturday night in the SBU Classic. It was the second consecutive night that the Bearcats hit the century mark.

The crowd was particularly ignited tonight with six dunks, three of them by freshman Matt Rogers.

Four Bearcats were in double figures. Jason Jemison scored 16. Rogers added 15. Jared Young had 14, and Jim Grabowski had 11. It was Rogers' second consecutive double-double, as he pulled down 12 rebounds. SBU out-rebounded Harris-Stowe 51-41. SBU also forced 24 Harris-Stowe turnovers.

The Bearcats hit 49% from the field, while holding Harris-Stowe to only 33%.

Three! Senior Jason Jemison delivers from long distance.
Coach Jeff Guiot, after the game, reflected on his team at this point in the season. "Our guys cared more about their mission than their position. All of these guys were starters on their high school teams. They have to learn how to sacrifice at this level. They're slowly but surely getting there. We have 14 good players, that could be a great team if they become one."

The Bearcats are next in action in one week, as they begin their MIAA schedule against the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats in Bolivar. Tipoff is at 7:30 next Saturday night December 9th.
