#4 ESU overtakes Lady Bearcats

EMPORIA, KS. ... Taking on the #4 team in the country, Southwest Baptist gave it their all as the fell to Emporia State (13-0/2-0), 95-65, at White Auditorium.  SBU is now 8-4 on the year and 1-1 in the MIAA.

Casey Beavers had her fifth double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead SBU.  Traci Bybee added 13 and Courtney  Creed had 10 points. 

SBU held their own with #4 ESU in the first 10 minutes of the game as Beavers cut ESU's lead to five, 24-19, with 9:08 left to play in the half.  That is as close as SBU would come the rest of the game as the Lady Hornets went on a 31-7 run in the final nine minutes for a 29-point lead at the half, 55-26. 

SBU shot 43% on the game and forced 27 turnovers but gave up 34 turnovers.  ESU scored 45 points off of SBU turnovers.  ESU out rebounded SBU, 35-31. 

The Lady Bearcats will try for their second MIAA win of the year on January 3rd when they host Pittsburg State at 5:45 p.m. in the Meyer Sports Center.
