Pierce placed seventh at the Missouri Southern Stampede with an 8K time of 23:56.89. The senior from Gladstone, Mo., was the top finishing MIAA runner and finished second among all Division II runners at the meet. Only one runner from the two Division I teams in the event placed higher than Pierce. Southwest Baptist finished third out of 35 teams.

After earning All-American honors during the 2007 cross country season, Pierce missed last season due to injury. During his SBU career, Pierce has broken numerous school records along with earning MIAA Athlete of the Week on multiple occasions. He's also earned All-American honors in both cross country and track and field. He will graduate from SBU in December.

This Saturday, the Bearcat squads head to St. Paul, Minn., and the University of Minnesota for the Roy Griak Invitational. The women start at 9:45 a.m. and the men begin at 11:20 a.m.
