A second day split for SBU volleyball at DBU Invitational

DALLAS, Texas -- The
SBU volleyball Bearcats went 2-2 this weekend at the Dallas Baptist
Lady Patriot Invitational, after winning Saturday against
Arkansas-Monticello and falling to Texas A&M-Commerce.
In
the first match with UAM, SBU (5-7) controlled the match, winning in
three sets, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-18. Alex Smith led SBU with 11 kills
and also had 11 digs on defense for the 'Cats. Kelsey Stewart had 10
kills and .417 hitting percentage. Lauren Noble had 16 digs to lead SBU
while Brianna Wallace had 30 assists.
In match number two with Texas A&M-Commerce, it was a back and forth affair with Commerce taking the first 27-25, before SBU got the second set at 25-21. TAMUC took the third at 25-18 with SBU hanging on to win the fourth 25-23. Commerce took the final set at 15-6. Ashley Jurgensmeyer had a .417 hitting percentage and 17 kills to lead SBU. Defensively, Noble led with 28 digs. Wallace added 23 digs and 44 assists in the five set match.
SBU returns home to open MIAA play on Tuesday night. The Bearcats host #8 Central Missouri at 7 p.m. in the Meyer Sports Center.
