SBU men take second, women fourth at UCM Mule Run

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The SBU cross country teams opened their 2009 at the UCM Mule Run with the Bearcat men finishing second and the Bearcat women finishing fourth.
The #20th-ranked SBU men had three runners with top ten finishes including Michael Pierce (third), Jeremy Glassmaker (fourth) and Shawn Etzenhouser (sixth). SBU also got a solid debut from freshman Phillip Miller who placed 18th while Michael McCampbell and Will Hansen ran 20th and 21st respectively. Rebecca Brigance (20th) and Chelsea Strahm (21st) were the top SBU finishers on the women's side. Andrea Owensby (26th), Kristen Colon (29th) and Christine Pierce (30th) were close behind.

The SBU men were second in the 12-team standings to UCM with Pittsburg State claiming third. Among the women, Pittsburg State won the eight-team meet while Central Missouri was second.
The SBU teams head to Joplin next weekend for the Missouri Southern Stampede. The women start at 9 a.m. with the men following at 9:45 a.m.
