SBU women's tennis falls in MIAA opener to UNO

OMAHA, Neb. -- The SBU women's tennis team fell in their MIAA opener to Nebraska-Omaha 6-3, in a dual match held Friday at the Hanscom Tennis Center.

After dropping the three doubles matches, the Bearcats (2-2) got singles wins from #2 Johanna Olsson (6-2, 6-2), #3 Jenna Hendrickson (6-2, 6-0) and #4 Trish Moceo (6-2, 6-3).

Nebraska-Omaha, who joined the conference at the start of the 2008-09 school year, improves to 4-4 after winning its first ever MIAA women's tennis match.

Trish Moceo (SBU) def. Samantha Thomas (UNO) 6-2, 6-3
Mary Lausten (UNO) def. Sarah Sentlinger (SBU) 6-2, 6-2
Kelsie Olson (UNO) def. Crystal Guiot (SBU) 6-0, 7-5

As the Bearcats return to Bolivar, they'll make stops at conference foes Northwest Missouri State in Maryville and Missouri Western in St. Joseph. The Saturday matchups begin at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.
